Songs of the night
The Camerata Vocale Freiburg invites you on a sonorous journey through the dark and light facets of the night with its program "Songs of the Night" - from the Romantic period to the present day.
Sacred works by Felix Mendelssohn and Johannes Brahms open the evening. Albert Becker's psalm setting and Max Reger's dense choral movement span an arc between consolation and inwardness.
Modern accents are set by compositions by Wolfram Buchenberg and Karl Jenkins, whose "Exsultate, jubilate" exudes light-filled energy.
With the quiet, enraptured "Armer junger Hirt" by Karlheinz Stockhausen and Robert Schumann's
"Mondnacht" (arr. Clytus Gottwald), the night encounters delicate, poetic worlds of sound. At the end, Richard Strauss' "Morgen!" is heard - a gentle glimpse of hope and light.
A polyphonic concert that listens to the night - and traces the light within it.
