Gala night of sport 2027

Then it's off to the Rolf Böhme Hall, where this time no round tables but concert seating await the guests. The athletes and teams to be honored take their seats in the upper tier on the side stands. At around 8:15 p.m., presenter Julica Goldschmidt will open the approximately two-and-a-half-hour program.

In addition to interesting discussions and insights into the Freiburg sports world, the municipal sports medals are awarded for the outstanding achievements of 2022. Many events took place again in the previous year and thus, for the first time since 2019, quite a few (more precisely: 116) medals can be awarded. In detail, sports mayor Stefan Breiter will present 29 youth sports medals, 33 bronze, 9 silver and 45 gold sports medals. A total of 13 medals will go to sportswomen, sportsmen and teams of disabled sports.

In the club ranking, the Freiburger Turnerschaft von 1844 ranks first with 30 medals, followed by the SSV Freiburg (18) and the Gehörlosen-Sportverein (9). In terms of sports, athletics (11 medals) won the most medals this time, ahead of diving (10), cheerleading and roller figure skating (9 each). The oldest honoree is triathlete Günter Birnbaum, who celebrates his 84th birthday this year. The youngest honoree is nine-year-old Benedikt Puce, who practices the sport of diving. Still in the "eternal ranking" is the deaf badminton player Helga Dießlin with now 26 medals (for 2022 she gets bronze) on place 1, ahead of Bernhard Maier (23 medals, also GSV) and Tobias Plötze (19 medals, SSV).

In proven Galanacht manner the sportive mile animates all guests to participate and try out. Again there are interesting stands and active places for it. After further program points, Showacts and short film contributions then to the conclusion of the Galanacht the sportswoman, the sportsman and the team of the year 2022 are selected on the stage. This election has already started in January with the help of the media partner Freiburger Wochenbericht; at that time the individual proposals were presented to the Gala Night jury. Currently, all interested parties can vote by original ballot (from the Freiburger Wochenbericht) or online (until Saturday, March 11) at www.galanacht-des-sports.de.
