For a long time, little attention was paid to the topic of forced labor in the reappraisal of the Nazi dictatorship. In Freiburg, it was only a publication by the city archives in 2003 that led to greater visibility of the topic. The (living) conditions of forced laborers differed massively in some cases and were based on the racist attributions of the National Socialists. Defamed as "sub-human", Eastern Europeans had the worst chances of survival. The tour sheds light on specific biographies of forced laborers from Eastern Europe and addresses the complex question of their afterlife after 1945, which was also shaped by the fear of "double persecution" in Stalinist Russia. The guided tour is offered in cooperation with the Zwetajewa-Zentrum an der University campus Freiburg e.V. Participation costs 4 euros. Tickets are available in the online store.
