Freiburg Blues Festival - German Blues Challenge 2025

A real coup has been pulled off for the 12th Freiburg Blues Festival! The German Blues Challenge, which is organized once a year by Baltic Blues e.V., is moving across Germany to the south: to Freiburg! Previously it was presented in Eutin, but this year Bluesfreunde Freiburg e.V. was able to take over the organization of the 14th German Blues Challenge.
The four currently popular blues bands from Germany were selected in a preliminary vote by trade journalists, organizers and producers and an open online vote.
Qualified for the final round are Chris Kramer Duo, LUKE, Sean Athens Band and local heroes TipiTina.
On the Saturday of the festival, they will perform in the Wodan Halle and show what they've got for 30 minutes each. They will be judged by an international jury of experts according to clearly defined criteria. The winning band, which will be announced in the evening, will represent Germany next year at the European Blues Challenge in Katowice, Poland, and at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, USA.
The guest appearance by Dede Priest & Johnny Clark's Outlaws with their powerful, rousing sound, which combines rock, folk, soul, country and blues, will provide a fitting introduction on Saturday.
No blues fan from the region will want to miss this event, which will be broadcast live on the internet. The blues is alive and well, even in South Baden!
