Decades after establishing himself as one of the architects of funk through his collaborations with James Brown and George Clinton, Fred Wesley launched a new project that connects him to his jazz roots and the future: Generations.
Generations is an expandable trio featuring Fred Wesley on trombone, Leonardo Corradi on organ and French drummer Tony Match. The three musicians, who originally came together to pay tribute to the soulful jazz of legendary organist Jimmy Smith, hit it off straight away and have been grooving together ever since.
Their show combines Wesley's talent and experience from working with artists such as Count Basie, Ray Charles, Lenny Kravitz and D'Angelo, Corradi's energetic interpretation of Smith and other historical jazz greats, and Match's jazz drumming, which is characterized by unique influences such as African beats and electronic sounds.
Tony Match is a French drummer, MD and music producer. For more than twenty years, he has worked with the best jazz musicians in the world, both as a music producer or musician and as a musical director. From Fred Wesley, Pee Wee Ellis, Paul Jackson the Headhunter, Richard Galliano to Rick Margitza, Tony has been involved in many projects with jazz, soul and funk icons such as Martha High. He has performed with Omar, Vanessa Haynes (Incognito), Randy Brecker, Lionel, Flavio Boltro, Lionel Loueke and Ulf Wakenius and composed with Flora Purim and Mozez (Zero7) to name but a few. Tony Match has composed, produced and mixed more than two hundred titles for major and leading independent labels, including albums for Deutsche Grammophon and Universal.
Leornardo Corradi Leonardo Corradi, one of Europe's most talented organists and regarded as an Italian shooting star, has performed with Antonio Sanchez, Dave Liebman, Rick Margitza, Kurt Rosenwinckel, Fred Wesley, Pee Wee Ellis, Martha High, Flavio Boltro and many others. He was voted best Hammond player by JAZZIT magazine (Italy) in 2010 and recorded his first solo album with Peter Bernstein (guitar) at the age of 18. Together with Tony Match they tour the world with Fred Wesley and Generations!
