Experimental Screen Printing on Ceramic Surfaces
From the stencil to the fired design—clay as a printing medium
Screen printing offers a wide range of possibilities for working not only on paper but also on clay. In this course, we’ll explore the diverse ways to decorate ceramics with your own screen-printed designs. We’ll start by creating the printing stencils, exposing them onto screen printing mesh, and then moving on to the printing process. We’ll mainly work with slab techniques; if you’d like to print on wheel-thrown ceramics, feel free to bring them along—either already fired or still in the leather-hard stage—as that’s also possible. An experimental approach to printing and room for creative serendipity are strongly encouraged.
A group lunch is included in the course fee.
Course times: Fri. 4–8 p.m., Sat. 10 a.m.–5 p.m., Sun. 10 a.m.–4 p.m.
