Dreisam
The Dreisam is much more than just the river that feeds the Bächle - it is pure nature right in the city and in the immediate vicinity. Its clear water and lush green meadows are both a recreational and active area and a place to take a breather. Here, the hustle and bustle of the city seems far away and the world around you is forgotten.
Freiburg's lifeline attracts families, friends, couples and pensioners alike to its banks to sunbathe, refresh themselves in the cool water or chill their after-work beer.
If you want to experience Freiburg as authentically as possible, you should spend some time on the Dreisam. Whether you cycle west along the river on a bike that you can hire from the bike station, for example, or take a walk east through the Schwabentor (Swabian Gate) is up to you.
One thing is certain: within a few minutes you will have forgotten the city life and be enjoying the idyllic countryside. Of course, you will not be denied a view of the Black Forest. Have fun!
