Dokwerk Saxophone Quartet
A four-headed dragon—that’s one way to picture the Dokwerk Saxophone Quartet: four powerful voices breathing in unison. And yes, sometimes this dragon breathes fire. Known for their infectious energy and fearless musicality, Dokwerk is a regular prize winner at international chamber music competitions. Their program is a tribute to searching, losing, and finding again. It celebrates the transformation of limitation into abundance, the poetry of the everyday, tradition, and the emergence and expression of a unique artistic voice. Art as an expression of spiritual nonconformity, self-discovery, and freedom. Rooted in diverse cultures and driven by a shared artistic spirit, Dokwerk strives to secure a permanent place for the classical saxophone in the music of today and tomorrow!
You’ll hear works by Steve Reich, György Ligeti, Ian Wilson, Nuno Lobo, and Chick Corea.
