Can singing be an expression of democracy in action? Yes! In the ancient form of so-called circlesongs. Circlesinging is communal singing in which everyone can participate. Everyone is welcome, knowledge of music does not matter. In contrast to choral singing, where existing pieces of music are transformed into sound, in circlesongs the singers are invited to invent vocal music together in a playful community process. Everyone is involved in creating rhythm and melody, initially based on easy instructions. Over time, these are transformed into more complex structures through the input of the singers. As in democracy, it is about hearing and being heard. It is about the interplay between the individual and the group, between active participation and receptivity, between the continuation of existing structures and openness to new impulses. And: you can take a break at any time and concentrate purely on listening. Each session begins with a light vocal warm-up that gently awakens and vitalizes both the speaking and singing voice and opens it up to a rich resonance in sound. Participation is free of charge, the number of participants is limited to 30. For your planning as well as ours, we would therefore be delighted if you could register via this website. This two-hour taster workshop offers, among other things, a foretaste of the weekend workshop "Demokratisch singen" from 23.10-25.10.2026 in the Waldhof: Information and registration at seminar-eins5.com/Apps/WHF/Events/
