Introduction to the work 18:00
With "Carmina Burana", the Freiburg Wind Orchestra is once again realizing a special project in the Konzerthaus (concert hall) Freiburg. Together with the Freiburg University Choir and the lower school choir of the St. Sebastian College in Stegen, the orchestra unleashes Carl Orff's work of the century. Anyone thinking of timpani and rattles will be surprised! Orff set medieval poems to music, some of which are tongue-in-cheek and quite pithy. The soloist parts are performed by Alice Fuder, Malte Kebschull and Eduard Wagner.
In the other part of the concert, you will experience top-class symphonic wind music! FBO conductor Miguel Etchegoncelay has selected Dionysiaques, one of the earliest original compositions for large symphonic wind orchestra. Impressionism meets late Romanticism - exciting and demanding; mysterious, wild and triumphant. The title is reminiscent of the ancient Dionysia, the festivals in honor of the Greek god Dionysus.
The Suite Ballets by Miguel Asins Arbó completes the concert program with a Spanish view of four dance scenes, whose rhythmic liveliness brings out the versatility of a symphonic wind orchestra in a virtuoso and colourful way. Don't miss the concert introduction by Meinrad Walter and Felix Hauswirth at 6 pm!
