Bob Dylan in Sound and Text — “Guided Listening” with a Reading
Under the title “Guided Listening,” Der Plattenladen in Freiburg hosts listening sessions on the first Monday of every month, where the store’s owners—Tom, Holger, and Markus—take turns introducing records, labels, genres, or other topics. Occasionally, we combine “Guided Listening” with readings (so far: Nick Cave, the Beat Poets, the LSD Story, High Fidelity). At “Words and Vibes,” Gerd Heinz (actor, director, former university professor) will read texts by Nobel Prize in Literature laureate Bob Dylan, and the gentlemen from the record store will present corresponding music by Dylan. The Guided Listening sessions have already been featured on SWR television and have contributed, among other things, to the record store being honored in 2024 with the EMIL—the German Award for Specialty Record Stores—as one of the best record stores in Germany. The event will take place on the record store’s premises and has limited capacity. We recommend arriving about half an hour early.
