On this evening excursion, we discover a species-rich open landscape with hedges, fallow land, orchards and loess escarpments. Typical orchard species such as redstart, green woodpecker and wryneck are still at home here. We can hear the diverse songs of the marsh warbler and stonechat, observe bee-eaters mating on the cliffs and, with a bit of luck, hear the begging calls of young long-eared owls at dusk.
