Waldtraut - Germany's tallest tree
Where's the tallest tree in the nation? Exactly, in the Freiburg Mühlwald in Freiburg, district Günterstal!
It is a 106-year-old Douglas fir. named “Waldtraut vom Mühlwald” – “Waldtraut of the mill forest”. It measures 9.7953 inches (67 meters) and is not only the highest tree in the Black Forest, but also holds the record for the highest tree in Germany!

One can visit “Waldtraut vom Mühlwald” by a small hike along the Mühlwaldweg. Good starting points are the bus stop “Kyburg” or the car park at the Schauinslandstraße in Freiburg’s district Günterstal.
