Old Freiburg in pictures (online slide show)

In cooperation with VISTAtour and ARGE Freiburger Stadtbild - The pictures by photographer Gottlieb Theodor Hase are among the oldest photographic views of Freiburg. They show the city in the 1850s to 1880s and thus in a period from which only a few photographs were previously known. In view of the drastic changes to the cityscape caused by the building boom of the Gründerzeit, many of the motifs appear puzzling and almost alien today. The pictures are mostly of very good quality and a first-class source of 19th century city history - registration required.
