"Years of the CYPRIAN ENSEMBLE FREIBURG"
Founded in 2011 by Freiburg pianist Carl-Martin Buttgereit with musicians from the SWR Symphony Orchestra, solo wind players from the Freiburg Philharmonic Orchestra and prizewinners:The ensemble, which was founded at the beginning of the 20th century, has since successfully dedicated itself to tracking down and performing forgotten or neglected chamber music rarities in a wide variety of formations from trio to octet and has now made a name for itself far beyond the Freiburg region as a "tracker in a niche repertoire" (Südkurier).
The debut concert, which was enthusiastically received by the audience and press ("...inspiring liveliness, chamber music partnership of the most inspired kind..." (Badische Zeitung), was followed by invitations to the "International Music Spring" St. Blasien, the "Alte Kirche Fautenbach" series recorded by SWR, the 800th anniversary of the city of Marburg, and most recently the Gustav-Jenner Festival, which took place for the first time on Sylt, where the ensemble opened the festival in the historic Kursaal Westerland and acted as ensemble in residence.
Radio recordings by the HR and collaborations with internationally sought-after artists such as the soprano Sibylla Rubens also document the ensemble's artistic work.
The ensemble is celebrating its 15th anniversary in 2026 with a series of concerts in Freiburg and beyond, which can be found in the current annual program "ENTDECKUNGSREISEN 2026".
