This intensive workshop is all about the fascinating world of insects - intricate, detailed and interpreted in ceramic form. Under the guidance of internationally renowned artist Ross de Wayne Campbell, who is highly regarded for his naturalistic depictions of beetles, butterflies and dragonflies, participants will learn step by step how to create small ceramic insects and show them off to their best advantage on a base.
The focus is on precise modeling techniques. They will be shown how filigree components can be formed from clay and fine stainless steel wire, which are then assembled into a more complex ceramic object. The basics of craftsmanship, creative possibilities, the use of materials and color design with engobes are taught in a practical and clear manner.
The focus is on sculptural design - coloring and glazing play a subordinate role. Due to time constraints, only colored engobes will be used.
At the end of the course, everyone will take home at least three finished insect sculptures on approx. 10 cm ceramic bases.
The course is aimed at beginners and advanced students.
