However, the magic of Lanzarote, our closeness to nature and our slight inclination towards the supernatural live on in our name: ALVA comes from Old Norse and is a tribute to Jannike's Swedish roots. It means "fighting elf". A combination of magic, softness and power, just like our music.

We are Jan & Jannike, thoroughbred musicians and little hippies at heart. Together we form the core of we are ALVA. Jannike plays the piano and sings, Jan plays the guitar and sings. But above all, we have both been passionate songwriters since childhood.

Both as a duo and with our five-piece band, we create a sound that is somewhere between a modern version of the Beatles and the Kings of Convenience.
