Conversion instead of demolition - Fix it!

The European touring exhibition "Fix it! - Conversion instead of demolition" is coming to Freiburg! The exhibition shows architectural conversion projects from all over Germany and impressively highlights the potential that lies in building on and creatively (re)using existing buildings. In cooperation with the European initiative House Europe!, Architects for Future Freiburg, the Perspektive Europaviertel initiative, Baukreisel, ANA, Architekturforum Freiburg and architecture students (HFT Stuttgart, HTWG Konstanz, KIT, RWTH Aachen, TU Munich), we are expanding the conversion atlas of the Association of German Architects (BDA) to include current examples from Freiburg. The Europaviertel, the Ganter-Areal, the Stadthalle and the Dreisam stadium are examples of places with great potential - for conversion instead of demolition. The exhibition and accompanying events will take place in the passage of the Karlsbau - a striking brutalist building from the 1970s, which itself will be converted in the near future.
