The Stubenareal is a historic building complex in Freiburg-St. Georgen with a restaurant, café, event rooms and a cultural and community center.
The Stubenareal is a historic building and cultural complex in Freiburg's St. Georgen district. The building complex is one of the most important historical sites in the district and was first mentioned in a document in 1403. It used to be the political center of the municipality of St. Georgen, and later also the town hall.
After extensive renovation, a modern civic, cultural and meeting center with a restaurant, café, beer garden and event rooms was created. The project combines monument protection with modern architecture and energy-efficient construction. Innovative energy solutions have significantly reduced energy consumption.
The area now serves as a meeting place for events, festivals, cultural programs and activities by clubs from the district. A large hall in the former barn offers space for concerts, celebrations, meetings and public events. The historic building also houses an inn with regional Baden cuisine, seasonal dishes and a cozy atmosphere.
Thanks to the combination of history, gastronomy and culture, the Stubenareal has developed into an important social and cultural hub in the St. Georgen district.
