"Magische Töne", the aria of Assad from the opera "Die Königin von Saba" by Karl Goldmark, is one of the evergreens of the tenor repertoire: from Enrico Caruso to Nicolai Gedda, almost every great tenor has immortalized himself on records with this hit. On Jonas Kaufmann's tour, this title serves as a kind of motto for a program dedicated to famous pieces by composers from Austria-Hungary. In addition to Goldmark, these are above all Franz Lehár and Emerich Kálmán, the two protagonists of the so-called "Silver Era" of operetta. Together with soprano Malin Byström, Kaufmann presents highlights from the operettas "The Merry Widow", "The Land of Smiles", "Giuditta", "The Csárdás Princess" and "Countess Mariza", among others.
