nikano is a small upcycling studio in Freiburg’s Old Town that transforms high-quality faux leather scraps from upholstered furniture production into one-of-a-kind bags and accessories. Instead of discarding valuable materials, the studio uses a great deal of craftsmanship and creativity to create unique everyday companions. Each bag has its own character, as the scrap materials used feature different colors and textures.
The collection includes bags, backpacks, fanny packs, and pencil cases, all of which are made right on site. Visitors can often get a glimpse of the creative process in the workshop and see how new products are made from reused materials. The faux leather used is lightweight, water-repellent, and tested for harmful substances, making the products ideal for everyday use.
