Musical salon in honor of Maurice Ravel
For Maurice Ravel's birthday year, the Humboldt Hall will once again be transformed into a French salon above Freiburg's rooftops, this time with a dreamlike atmosphere. Whether in fairy tales, distant worlds, children's fantasies or whimsical jazz scenarios, Ravel loved to whisk his audience away musically. Dream visions run through his entire oeuvre like a magical trail of sound. On this evening, the ensemble led by soprano Inga Schäfer and pianist Aziz Kortel will present dreamlike song compositions such as Schéhérazade (1904) and the Chansons Madécasses (1926), which Ravel expert Mathias Schillmöller will bathe in a magical light with impressions from the composer's house in Montfort l'Amaury. The song Rêves/Treams (1926), the scene of the teapot and the Chinese cup from L'Enfant et les Sortilèges/The Child and the Magic Things and other curiosities will also be heard.
