Young visitors go on a big expedition in the Children's and Family Museum to actively explore the uniqueness and diversity of our planet.
In the permanent natural history exhibition, they travel through the mysterious history of the earth: did mammoths really exist and how did dinosaurs live? The ancient giants are waiting to be discovered, as are well-known animals of our time. If you look closely, you will not only come across beavers, lynxes and peregrine falcons, but also very special "Freiburgers", such as the Baden giant earthworm or the bee-eater.
The formation of our oceans and continents is explained in a child-friendly way using minerals. Fossils of animals and plants show the history of the development of life on earth and especially in the region.
The variety of exhibits is huge, as the founding fathers of the former "Museum für Natur- und Völkerkunde" have been collecting natural history and ethnological objects since 1895.
Take your family on a journey through time into the past, present and future of our planet!
