Black forest glitter is evidence of an enigmatic magic that triggers a somnabulistic pull. You get caught up in this sparkle, glitter and shimmer and never want to escape it again. Each song describes its own individual landscape with an unmistakable palette of colors, and yet you always remain on your own two feet while listening, without having to change chassis depending on the landscape. Montau's world of sound asks the right questions without always having the right answers at hand. Not least for this reason, Black forest glitter is an album that shows immense respect for the listener and the listening itself, making every single moment on this record a treasure.
The transparency, expansiveness and sphericity of Scandinavian music are unmistakable on Black forest glitter. Award-winning tuba player DANIEL HERSKEDAL from Norway naturally accepted the invitation to play a wonderful solo on the song "Polar light".
This voice is instantly memorable and at the same time generates new perspectives. It is unmistakably the idiom of Judith Heusch, until 2017 the poetic core of the German band Patty Moon. Patty Moon has played numerous live concerts in a wide variety of line-ups, from solo to band to string quartet. Most recently as support for Agnes Obel and Cat Power at the Stimmenfestival Lörrach.
Words are carried through the spheres like feathers of musical thermodynamics, their drive of pure lumen simultaneously lifting and emphasizing the heaviness and profundity of the lyrics. Judith Heusch is a master of balancing sound and words. Melancholy and curiosity are just as balanced as fun and thoughtfulness.
