The Roma of the Balkans have always absorbed and processed the folklore of the peoples they came into contact with. Fiery sounds and plaintive melodies as well as rousing and incredibly lively music shape the character of this folklore in its mixture of traditional and modern influences. Wind instruments often set the rhythm. They are spirited people, masterful singers and musicians, passionate dancers, excellent craftsmen and born traders. Traditionally, they traveled and still travel through Europe as nomads. This course is an invitation to be carried away and touched by the intensity of the music and dance and to tap into the sources of our inner strength and joie de vivre. Ethnological and philosophical backgrounds are taught. All people who enjoy movement, those interested in the subject and dance instructors are welcome. A fixed dance partner is not required.
Course leader: Ulatowski, Holger. Holger Ulatowski is a dance teacher and lecturer at the Friedel Kloke-Eibl Institute. More at: www.tanzdozent-ulatowski.de
