In her recent speeches and essays, Lena Gorelik has repeatedly insisted on the possibility of cohesion and reminded us of the strengthening power of connections and commitment. In her new novel "Alle meine Mütter" (Rowohlt, 2026), she turns her attention to figures who are emotionally and politically charged like no others in the family constellation: Mothers and non-mothers. Lena Gorelik tells of daughters who meet the mother's gaze, of expectant mothers, of women who terminate their pregnancies. A literary orchestrated dance that takes into account the many sides of life. "All My Mothers" is an extraordinary book that knows about the coldness to which people are exposed and tells a story against it. A devotion that respects others and allows them to be their own.
The award-winning author will be talking about her characters and stories with literary critic Insa Wilke, who will be inviting people to the Mannheim literary festival "lesen. hören" at the beginning of the year and to cafelit.de.
