International organ concerts in Freiburg Minster

This series of organ concerts has been an integral part of Freiburg's summer cultural life for over 90 years. The unique organ installation in the wonderful space of the cathedral is a magnet for outstanding international performers and organ enthusiasts from all over the world. The symbiosis of space and sound inspires and fascinates performers and listeners alike - creating very special sound experiences and thrilling concert experiences.

The pianist Lei Meng was born in Harbin (China) in 1991 and received her first musical training at the China Conservatory in Beijing, at the Austrian-Chinese Music University there and then at the Mozarteum University Salzburg with Prof. Klaus Kaufmann and at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris with Prof. Michel Béroff. In 2016, Lei Meng completed her Master's degree at the Mozarteum University Salzburg with distinction, followed by a postgraduate degree. She also completed a bachelor's degree in instrumental pedagogy at
. In 2017, she was employed as a piano teacher and accompanist at the Grassau Music School in Bavaria. She has taught at the Mozarteum University Salzburg as a senior lecturer for piano since 2018 and completed her habilitation in 2022. Since 2024 she has been a lecturer at the International Summer Academy of the Mozarteum University Salzburg, where she was appointed Professor of Piano and Piano Didactics in the winter semester 2024/25. She regularly holds masterclasses and is a jury member of international piano competitions.
Lei Meng has received numerous national prizes in her home country. She was awarded the "Mozart Prize" at the Mozarteum University Salzburg in 2009. In 2011, she won a prize at the international "Bang & Olufsen PianoRAMA" competition in Aarhus (Denmark) and in 2016 at the "Santa Cecilia" competition in Porto (Portugal). Concerts have taken her to many European countries, the USA, China and Brazil. She regularly receives invitations to major festivals. She has repeatedly performed as a soloist with various orchestras and chamber music ensembles. In 2016, Lei Meng recorded her first CD with works by Scarlatti, Mozart and Dutilleux. Together with professors from the Mozarteum University Salzburg, she recorded a complete DVD of Johann Sebastian Bach's piano concertos. Recently, several CD recordings have been released on the Coviello Classics label.

Hannfried Lucke was born in Freiburg i. Br. He received his musical training at the Freiburg State College of Music, the Mozarteum in Salzburg and the Conservatoire de musique in Geneva. He received a scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service and was awarded the "Premier Prix" at the Conservatoire de musique in Geneva and the prize of the Austrian Minister of Culture.
Concerts and radio recordings have taken him to most European countries, the USA, Canada, Japan, Hong Kong and Australia.
He has performed on major organs and at festivals, including the Vienna Festival, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival, the Tanglewood Music Festival, the Royal Festival Hall London, St. Patrick's Cathedral New York, Suntory Hall Tokyo and the Kyoto Concert Hall. His numerous CD recordings on labels such as Thorofon, Mitra, Carus and Coviello Classics have won several international awards.
In 1997, he was appointed professor of organ at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, and in 2000 he was appointed to the chair at the Mozarteum University Salzburg. From 2016 to 2017, he also taught as a substitute professor at the College of Music in Freiburg. In 2018, he was appointed Vice-Rector for Art at the Mozarteum University Salzburg. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Mozarteum Foundation Salzburg. Hannfried Lucke regularly holds masterclasses in Europe, Japan and the USA and is a jury member of international organ competitions.
