No matter how you get to Freiburg, the city makes it easy for you to arrive. For rail travellers, the journey ends at the main station in the city centre. Bus and tram services connect directly from here, and it’s just a short walk to Münsterplatz. If you’re travelling by car, a clear parking guidance system helps you quickly find suitable parking spaces, including affordable Park&Ride options. And if you’re travelling in an electric car, the city offers a well-developed network of charging points.

In the ADFC Cycling Climate Test, Freiburg regularly ranks among the top-rated cities in its size category. The distances are perfectly manageable even without your own car. For anyone arriving on foot who’d like to switch to a bike, Freiburg’s bike-share scheme, Frelo, is the hassle-free solution. 

Get past the traffic jams quickly. Travel to Freiburg in comfort by train. Freiburg has national and international rail links. Freiburg’s main station is centrally located in the city centre and offers good connections to the tram and bus networks. 

Would you prefer to travel independently in your own car? Freiburg has a wide range of electric vehicle charging points and parking facilities around the city centre. If you’d like to park for free and don’t fancy dealing with city traffic, we recommend the free Park & Ride (P+R) car parks on the outskirts of the city. All you need to do is buy a local transport ticket and you can travel into the city centre on Freiburg’s trams. 

Through the Black Forest or the Vosges mountains: Several long-distance hiking trails lead to Freiburg. It is well worth approaching the city on foot at your leisure. You will be rewarded with views of marvellous landscapes
