The crazy plan to let the AI do all the work this time failed. At the
end, HGich.T had to do it themselves again. Fortunately! "Lenovobeach", the eighth studio album by the Hamburg music collective, sounds like the tender embrace of a drugged-up mother.
"Yes, boss. Thanks for everything", is the title of "Lenovobeach" and that almost says it all. The idea of letting ChatGPT do all the lyrics and sound work for a change this season and gradually replacing the entire band with avatars was a sweet one (keyword: work-life balance), but in the end DJ Hundefriedhof, Tutenchamun, Dr. Geilser, Nora Hardstyle, Katze Cozy, DJ Balmi, the beautiful Maike, Fosserill, 12Fingermann, Professor Sus- pect, Opa16 and the rest of the cuddly gang preferred to make sure that even 14 years after the release of the uber-hit "Hauptschuhle" the hammer bangs like twenty Buzkashi whips. Mission: completed.
"What the AI spit out there sounded licked, calculated and aestheticized, we might as well have asked Maik Forster or whatever his name is," sums up Dr. Geilser, exhausted. "It's not for nothing that we have formed a small exotic island for decades, beyond the filters, self-optimization mania and perfectionism of the 21st century." And it should stay that way: "Lenovobeach" was produced with a lot of love over seven magical nights in a Portuguese beach cave and entices with life-affirming rave anthems ("Geistig am Start"), ecstatic stomping announcements "("UDO"), disturbing cuddle hits ("Merci Cherie"), socially critical bangers ("Saufe") and the new over-summer hit "Lenovobeach", which is already playing up and down at "Pascha".
Robust and timeless like an old Lenovo, the keyboard ballad "Die schwarze Gitarre" ("The Black Guitar") comes across in a swaying Graf-Zahl style. The lyrics come from an old diary by Dr. Geilser.
The cream of the new record is a hymn of praise to an important everyday object: the "adapter", which not only has radio stations licking their fingers, but has also inspired "Die Gebrüder Brett" to create a fat remix.
Play tip: "Geistig am Start" hypnotizes with sweet opera vocals (Nora Hardstyle), Portuguese chants and disturbingly melodic Pied Piper of Hamelin vibes, served on a hard-hitting dog graveyard board that is second to none. Message: "We are the underdogs, we are the Mayday, we dance in the Matrix, mentally at the start.
A prodigal son shines on the keyboard and mic (including "Adapter"): Fosserill is back! For years, the hilarious understudy of the great Vhagvam Swami was lost in Bärchiland, occasionally working as his prompter. Now "Fossi-Bär" can step out of the shadow of the Grand Master, who is currently enjoying his maternity leave. "The ones at HGich.T always had such cheesy feet. But it's better now. So I'm back at it again. And I'm also totally up for it," says Fosserill via ICQ. Tutenchamun is also growing with his tasks: "After twenty years, I can finally memorize Hauptschuhle by heart," the endearingly wacky frontman rejoices. Chapeau!
