In Focus, choreographer Étienne Rochefort brings together five young street dancers from Strasbourg with two members of his dance company 1 des Si. They compete against each other to rousing beats and repeatedly come together in large group formations. Together they show how different urban dance can be - from hip-hop to krump to breakdance, from house to popping to voguing, everything is included here. Urban dance stands for so much more than just dancing. It is an expression of diversity, freedom and boundless creativity. The dancers' stories are as diverse as the styles of urban dance. Through movement, they tell of their own personal journeys, discoveries and struggles. They use dance to ask questions about identity, culture and community. In Focus, the stage becomes a big hip-hop party for the audience and dancers.
