Parenting course: Mastering separation - strengthening children

When parents separate and a family breaks up, it is painful for everyone involved. Anger, grief and jealousy do not make it easy to compromise, and instead there are often arguments about contact and custody. If parents nevertheless manage to find solutions together in the interests of the children that both can accept and put into practice, the situation is also less stressful for the children. The City of Freiburg's advice center for parents, children and young people provides support with courses for parents. Two new series of courses are starting in spring: Mondays at the Herdern counseling center (see below), Thursdays at the Weingarten counseling center.

The parenting course "Mastering separation - strengthening children" consists of six modules that build on each other. They are dedicated to various topics, including

Stress and emotion regulation
Conflict behavior
communication
Strengthening parenting skills.

Participants get to know other parents who are in a similar situation. This allows them to benefit from each other's experiences. In discussions and exercises, they work together to find solutions to difficult situations.

The course starts on Monday, April 20. The other dates are Monday, May 4, May 18, June 15, June 29 and July 13, each from 4.30 to 7.30 pm.
