The College of Music in Freiburg has been bursting at the seams for years. The state of Baden-Württemberg has therefore provided it with three additional buildings in Schöneckstraße in Freiburg-Neunburg.
The university moved into the "Bel Rincon" villa at Schöneckstraße 7 at the start of the 2025 summer semester, while the other two buildings are still being renovated.
The building at Schöneckstraße 6 can be visited on Open Monument Day from 10 am to 5 pm. The stately villa was built in 1909 in a panoramic location on Schlossberg (castle hill) for the Jewish lawyer Richard Feist by the renowned architecture and construction company "Hopp & Hofmann".
You have the opportunity to take part in a guided tour of the villa four times on Open Monument Day (10:15 am, 12 noon, 2 pm and 4 pm). The guided tours explain the eventful history of the house and its use, show the prestigious architecture with its upscale, high-quality interior and describe the fateful biography of the Feist family and the philosopher Edmund Husserl and his wife, who lived in the villa as tenants in 1938/1939, in a short lecture.
The number of participants in the guided tours is limited. Please register online by September 12, 2025. Free places will be allocated on site on the day of the event.
Further information on the Open Monument Day can be found on the website of the German Foundation for Monument Protection and in the event flyer (pdf) (this file is not barrier-free).
