The Three Investigators - Phantom Highway
On a mission from Uncle Titus, the Three Investigators find themselves in ZEUS—a now-closed resort in the middle of nowhere in the Nevada desert—on a rainy night. Their task is to pick up some old but still-working slot machines. However, the relentless downpour makes the trip home impossible. Justus, Peter, and Bob manage to persuade the taciturn caretaker to let them spend the night at a nearby motel. But when more unexpected guests arrive, dark secrets surrounding the remote location begin to unfold. In fact, a real UFO is said to have crashed nearby. And then Peter spots a phantom-like figure haunting the grounds. *
: Phantom Highway* is the sixth adventure of the popular young detectives, told as a graphic novel. In addition to references to Gaston Leroux’s classic horror novel, ’50s sci-fi, and retro games, this case also offers musical surprises. These were penned by New York songwriter Phoebe Kreutz. The proven team of Calle Claus and Christopher Tauber is once again responsible for the entire work.
During the comic reading, the graphic novel is projected onto the screen as a film with its own soundtrack, and author and illustrator Christopher Tauber is full of enthusiasm as he takes on all the roles in the story with gusto.
About the series: Awarded the Max & Moritz Prize in 2018 for best comic for children and young adults, it has since become an indispensable part of the world of The Three Investigators. What began as a visual experiment by Kosmos Verlag in 2015 has grown into a graphic novel series that now includes six original stories, three adaptations of popular classics from the series, and two books that shed a noir-style light on the adult lives of the Three Investigators. Comic artist and author Christopher Tauber has contributed to all 11 books, with more in the works.
