Robert C. Bauer → Intermezzo
Robert C. Bauer → Etude pulmonaire
Heather Frasch → quietly breathing for bass clarinet and live electronics
Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy → Andante from the Clarinet Sonata in E flat major
Sebastian Fagerlund → Breath. Trio for clarinet, violoncello and accordion
The final concert is the examination of the artistic performance as part of the artistic-scientific doctorate "Physiological studies on breathing strategies in clarinet playing" at the Collège Glarean.
The concert will feature works directly related to the theme of breath: Works that are particularly challenging in terms of breathing technique, works that focus on breath through improvisational or noisy elements as well as two compositions by Prof. Robert C. Bauer, which were composed for Yannick Trares as part of this research project.
The concert is part of an artistic doctoral project at the College of Music Freiburg, which examines and artistically classifies lung ventilation during clarinet playing under various breathing conditions. The disputation will take place directly afterwards at 6:30 pm, also in the Chamber Music Hall.
Yannick Trares is a clarinettist and conductor. After completing his studies in Karlsruhe and Zurich, he devoted himself to intensive chamber music concert activities, regularly plays as an orchestral musician in professional ensembles and teaches clarinet at the Steinhausen and Risch-Rotkreuz music schools as well as clarinet and methodology at the College of Music in Freiburg. As a conductor, he directs renowned wind orchestras in central Switzerland and is also researching the topic of "Investigations into the respiratory physiology of clarinettists" as part of an artistic-scientific doctorate at the College Glarean Freiburg-Strasbourg. Lectures on the subject of breathing have taken him to various music academies in Switzerland and Germany as well as to festivals such as clarimondo at the Staufen Music Academy and the "NOVA" Academy of the Balthasar Neumann Ensemble.
