Archiepiscopal building authority (C. Hendrich and A. Bauhofer), 2002
Storage as a design principle: The red sandstone with many layers of artisanal stone working reflects the materiality of the historic city of Freiburg and demonstrates the building's function to the outside world. The 50 cm thick solid brick walls avoid temperature fluctuations, eliminating the need for mechanical climate control.
